Nuance could find more growth is in electronic health records. With the ability to transform spoken instructions into digital records. This technology sector has been a source of growth for Nuance, with revenue from health care rising 29% in its most recent quarter, compared to a 16% drop in its consumer and mobile segment.

Nuance Surges 9%: Pre-Announces FYQ1 Rev, EPS Ahead of Consensus
Shares of speech-recognition software vendor Nuance Communications (NUAN) are up $1.31, or almost 9%, at $16.20, after the company this afternoon pre-announced fiscal Q1 revenue and earnings per share ahead of consensus,
Revenue in the three months ended in December is expected to be in a range of $487 million to $491 million, with EPS of 23 cents to 24 cents.
The forecast is higher than the company’s previous forecast for $477 million to $487 million in revenue and 18 cents to 21 cents in EPS.
Analysts had been modeling revenue of $481 million and 20 cents per share.
The pre-announcement came in conjunction with the company’s announcement it has named Symantec (SYMC) veteran Bill Robbins as head of worldwide sales.
Nuance will report full results on February 10th.
